English for blind kids

Since 2019, CDF have been able to organize two English Courses for Visually Impaired Students from Quang Tri School for Children with Disabilities. EIS English Center is our partner to this course. 11 visually impaired students from 5 to 13 have joined this conversational English course taught by Mr. Neil Lunch from Scotland and other three Vietnamese teachers. The course helped these children to be able to communicate with foreign guests and donors and other foreign friends visiting the school. Most importantly, it helped these disabled children to be more confident in social interactions. CDF is thankful for the kind support from Mr. and Mrs. Schmidt for funding this meaningful project.

Inclusive education & training for teachers

Inclusive Education is critical to disabled children because it allows them to be in class with non-disabled friends. It helps to develop friendships, relationships and mutual respect between all children, and between children and teachers in the school. In 2019, a new inclusive education training is provided for 50 teachers who are teaching at public schools and are in charge of some disabled students in their classes. A lecturer from Hue University was providing them with knowledge on how to handle mixed classes. Children from four districts in Quang Tri province benefited from this project. The project was the collaboration effort between CDF and Eye Will.

Computers are becoming essential during Covid-19 for education of young children. A project to provide computers for training of primary school students in Ham Nghi Primary School was conducted in Summer 2020. CDF is excited to receive a gift of 6 computers from a friend who wants to promote IT learning for young students in Quang Tri. 430 children from 3 to 5 from Ham Nghi Primary School were excited to receive this gift and computer training. During lockdowns in 2020 and 2021, the children are able to use the skills for online classes.
